Argentar s.r.l. - Doratura FlashA decorative procedure practiced using various techniques since ancient times, gilding has always been the most widely used process to decorate objects. Since 1200 there is the traditional technique, called water gilding, with which Italian and European artists enriched their masterpieces. Giotto was one of the artists who created paintings on golden boards made with the water method: the gold leaf was spread before painting, combined with heated calcium sulfate, animal glue, clay and water. They were extremely difficult methods to implement, which required time, dedication and precision (features worthy of the greatest artists). The technique of galvanic gold plating - therefore achievable only on metals - would come only after, in the early 1800s, thanks to the experiments of Luigi Brugnatelli at the University of Pavia. The studio operated by Brugnatelli allowed him to achieve a gold layer on the surface of metal using electricity. And it was Alessandro Volta, a friend and collaborator of Brugnatelli, to provide the very first of electric batteries which served to complete the experiment.

Our Gold-Flash

Argentar s.r.l. - Doratura FlashThrough its own experience ARgentAR s.r.l. has been able to develop an optimal process of gold- flashing, thanks to high-speed machines, which allow to obtain an even gilding and particularly durable over time, only 0.05 microns thick. It is important to clarify that the gilding obtained by electrolytic process isn't only used in the goldsmith industry, but also in the field of manufacturing modern electronics, due to the high electrical conductivity of gold.
